The Yatala Labour Prison redevelopment added 270 high-security beds through four two-storey buildings (C1, C2, D and E) within the existing correctional precinct. The program included accommodation and specialist support spaces, new visitor and family visiting areas, admissions and kitchen facilities, recreation yards, staff parking and a ring road. It also delivered security fencing, services and infrastructure upgrades, with new works connected to the operating prison.

TF Certifiers + Consultants was engaged for building certification and BCA assessment across the redevelopment. Our staged work covered the accommodation and supporting buildings and their associated documentation, with attention to fire and life safety, egress, access and the interfaces between new construction and existing facilities. TF issued staged Certificates of Compliance for the redevelopment.

TF has since been engaged on the separate Yatala Labour Prison 312-bed expansion. Certification work on that program is continuing through staged building packages, including Building C1 and Buildings C2 and C3. This later expansion is distinct from the completed $180 million redevelopment described above.
